What should my company offer as a work-from-home (WFH) allowance in France?
There are two indemnities in France regarding the work-from-home (WFH) allowance. These two indemnities must be separated and cannot be treated as one.
The first indemnity is a reimbursement of teleworking expenses. This indemnity is treated as a professional expense and is expensed at a fixed rate of €10 per teleworked day per week, up to €50 per week. This calculation is provided by the Social Security Authority in France and is not subject to social security contributions.
The second indemnity is a monthly allowance of €50, which serves as compensation for the occupation of the supported employee’s domicile for professional purposes and is subject to both social security and income tax.
What considerations are there around meal allowances and reimbursements?
We do not currently provide meal vouchers. French law does not require providing meal vouchers or allowances.
