Is cost sharing available?
Velocity Global’s Canada Life medical plans are provided to your supported employees at no cost, and contributions are 100% client-paid. Cost sharing is not currently available.
Do plans cover dependents?
Yes. Our Canada Life plans mandate coverage for all eligible dependents of your supported employees. Invoices will reflect single coverage or family coverage based on whether your supported employee has eligible dependents.
What health benefits do most employers offer?
Employers in Canada commonly offer more than statutory minimum benefits, even though they are not legally required to do so.
We recommend offering Extended Health Care (EHC) plans (which include dental, vision, paramedical massage, chiropractor, physiotherapy, and prescriptions) in Canada. Because many employers offer these plans in Canada, you should match their offerings to ensure your benefits packages appeal to top talent.
While Canada does have a national healthcare system (governed by each province), full-time, permanent employees expect their employers to offer supplemental healthcare benefits. Supplemental benefits help offset the cost of items like prescription medication, dental care, and vision care, which are typically not included in provincial health insurance plans.
Your supported employees in Canada can opt out of some benefits if they and/or their dependents are covered under another group or individual policy.
How does an employee’s salary or level of seniority affect what benefits employers offer them?
Employers often offer all employees the same level of benefits regardless of salary or level of seniority.
What does Velocity Global’s Canada Life plan offer?
Canada Life is one of the country’s most reputable insurance providers. Our Canada Life medical plans are designed as top-up coverage to Canada's national healthcare system.
We offer two policy options: Standard and Executive. Both include inpatient, outpatient, maternity, wellness, dental, vision, life, dependent life, long-term disability (LTD) insurance, critical illness benefits, employee assistance programs (EAPs), and virtual healthcare services. The Executive policies offer higher coverage at a higher cost.
Please note that the Canadian healthcare system does not extend to dental care. Without private benefits which are usually acquired through employment, all dental expenses would be paid
